Texas Bankers Hall of Fame
In a ceremony on April 25, Robert A. Hulsey (American National Bank of Texas), Walter Johnson (Amegy Bank), Kenneth T. Murphy (First Financial Bank, N.A.) and the late Walter G. Lacy, Jr. (Citizens National Bank, Waco) were inducted to the Texas Bankers Hall of Fame at Sam Houston State University.

Special Election
Former Harris County Commissioner Sylvia Garcia won a special election runoff in Senate District 6 (Houston) on Saturday. This election was necessary due to the death of Senator Mario Gallegos prior to the November elections. Garcia garnered 52.89% of the votes, and won over sitting State Representative Carol Alvarado, who will retain her House seat.

A long-time member of IBAT, Guaranty Bond Bank has embarked on a year-long celebration, starting with a Family Fun Day at the main branch in Mount Pleasant on January 20th. IBAT was part of the special day and presented them with a resolution.
