Closing a Joint Account
Question: A married couple have a joint checking account with us. Now they are getting a divorce. Can the husband take his wife's name off the account? Answer: No. However, either party may draw all the money out of the account and open a new account. The bank is not required to know who contributed what to the account. Any party may close a joint account. Open a new account.
