Lotteries
 
Question:  A local civic group has asked the bank to donate an item for a raffle.  The bank would be identified as the donor, but the lottery advertising would be in local stores and not on bank premises.  Does this violate the federal prohibition on banks' participating in lotteries?
 
Answer:  No.  This would not violate the prohibition against advertising or publicizing the existence of any lottery.  See interpretive letter #900 from the OCC:
