| In the spring of 2008, 100 IBAT members hit the halls of Congress on a quest - to tell "the community banking story." The record-breaking turnout significantly enhanced our visibility in the eyes of our lawmakers. The community banking industry will face some crucial challenges in 2009, and we need your help to protect your franchise! Please make plans to join us in May. There is no fee to attend - you need only cover your travel and lodging expenses. Sponsorship opportunities are also available! I believe this trip may be the single most important event IBAT does each year. Washington is where we fight the battle of taxes, regulation, and competitive fairness. These are the words used by one of our community bank colleagues to describe our annual congressional visit. A record-breaking number of attendees joined us for our 16th annual visit in 2008. Feedback from both attendees and lawmakers was most positive - a number of lawmakers commented on our large group.
