Most brokerage firms deal with a wide variety of clients, but Baker deals predominately with community-based financial institutions. Client investment strategies are therefore designed to meet the needs of bankers with respect to broad risk management and regulatory issues.
Strategic objectives for the bond portfolio are long-term in nature and involve consistent management of cash flows, for example, rather than a shorter-term focus on potentially riskier bonds with high yield.
