On the Hill - State Legislative Flurry
The Legislature will adjourn on May 30, and will have hopefully concluded their business by that time. At this juncture in history, there is little appetite for a special session(s) from either the lawmakers or the lobbyists!

The Senate this week passed HB 2 and HB 3 – the school finance and tax bills. The Senate version was amended dramatically, and is now more in line with the House version – a “basket” approach, providing a choice of a franchise tax or tax on compensation paid. A “floor” of 25 BP on “gross receipts” is in the language . . . it, along with the other components of the bill, is likely to change substantially going forward.
