On the Hill
Watch for IBAT's White Paper on the 79th Legislative Session.  This informative, free publication provides helpful hints on the impact of passed bills on your institution.  In addition to being mailed to all members, it will be posted on our web site...after the Governor's veto period expires!

Mark your calendar for July 6 and 7 for the telephone seminars on the session.  The 6th will cover operational issues like new ID theft and check management issues, and the 7th will cover lending issues including changes in the usury laws, lien issues, and other matters.

Legal Ease Question of the Week
Question:  Our bank is considering adding a "premium checking account" for customers 50 and older.  Any minefields?  To find out the answer, click on the flashing question mark.  You can also check out our growing database of other Q&As!

Five Star Awards
Check your e-mail on Monday and cast your vote for your Five Star Award nominee…actually your THREE nominees.  If you share a special relationship with one of IBAT’s Associate Members that provides your bank with an important product or service that helps you operate more efficiently and provides your staff with the kind of support on which you can depend, this is your opportunity to let them SHINE!

The three top nominees will be recognized at the awards ceremony during the IBAT Education Foundation Gala on Sunday, September 25 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas.

You be the judge. Your participation will help determine the winners!

Only two weeks left to submit your Best of Community Banking Entry.  Entries must be received in the IBAT office by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17.  If you have any questions or need additional information, e-mail mbpalone@ibat.org

Congratulations!
Congratulations to President Calvin Spindor, directors and employees of the Farmers and Merchants Bank in De Leon as they celebrate their 100th Anniversary this year.  The IBAT Board of Directors and staff would like to congratulate Farmers and Merchants Bank on this important milestone for the citizens of De Leon and Comanche County and the community banking industry.

We Need Your PIN
No, not your debit card PIN, but your bank’s LAPEL PIN.  We’re hoping to collect pins from our members  across the state and display them in the IBAT boardroom.  If you have a lapel pin that you can part with, please send it to Mae Beth Palone, IBAT, 1700 Rio Grande, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78701.
