On the Hill
There is no Capitol Report this week.  Here are the highlights for the week.  Amended HB 3 (tax bill) was voted out of committee.  Sales tax is increased to 7.25%; no new payroll tax.  HB 2 (education bill) passed the House 77 - 70, and is headed to the Senate. Meanwhile, HB 1 (appropriations bill - which would fix school spending) is moving and will move regardless of the fate of school reform and taxation per chairman Jim Pitts! Both House and Senate will be back in town after the July 4th holiday. Please know that we continue to closely monitor the tax issue, and are committed to making sure that community banking is treated fairly...and the Delaware Holding Company structure remains intact. These are indeed interesting times in your Capitol!
