IBAT provided oral and written testimony at a hearing this week to discuss credit union conversions to mutual savings banks. As you are aware, two Metroplex credit unions, Community Credit Union and Omni American, are in the process of converting. Both of these credit unions have run into major hurdles erected by their federal regulator, the NCUA - who on August 30 agreed to a final settlement to approve these conversions (and to avoid a potentially embarrassing and far-reaching court decision). The Texas Credit Union Commission is considering some revisions to their rules regarding conversions, and this hearing was a part of that ongoing process.
