ON THE HILL
This week, The Federal Reserve Board announced that it intends to increase the small bank holding company threshold from $150 million to $500 million.  IBAT has been recommending an increase for some time, and we are pleased with this move by the Board.  The Communities First Act and Congressman Hensarling's Reg Burden Relief bill (HR 3505) include provisions to move the threshold to $1 billion.  IBAT will comment positively on the proposal.

FROM THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT
We continue to get questions regarding the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.  The updated Compliance Bulletin on this issue provides very useful information.  Please remember that those servicemembers and reservists called to active duty - including domestic disaster relief - are eligible for relief under the Act.

We've started a web page with links to resources to help you deal with banking-related issues resulting from the hurricane.
