ICBA has sent an e-mail to its members about the confusion with Hurricane Katrina recovery checks issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). For the relief efforts, these U. S. Treasury recovery checks have the words DISASTER ASSISTANCE printed on the bottom left and FEMA's Agency Location Code is printed on the second line of the check. To confirm the validity of U. S. Treasury checks, click here). Security features that are exclusive to U. S. Treasury checks include watermarks, signature blocks, bleeding ink, symbol and serial check digit numbers, micro-printed endorsement line and ultraviolet overprinting. If you have questions regarding a FEMA recovery check, please contact the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond at (804) 697-2605.
Recently you received petition forms from the Independent Community Bankers Association of America (ICBA) seeking nominations for Texas directors. Since all of our current directors including Larry Kilgore, Southwest Bank of Fort Worth, Bill Bain, Medina Valley State Bank in Devine and Allen "Jimmy" Rasmussen of Hometown Bank, N.A. in Galveston are eligible for re-election, IBAT will not be recommending additional candidates. We appreciate the commitment and dedication of these individuals to our industry.
