ON THE HILL
As mentioned in our January 3 Special Compliance Bulletin, the Ethics Commission has adopted a revised CIQ form for vendors to use in reporting business relationships with local government officials.  Unfortunately, there are no instructions with this form.  Also, the Commission has no authority to interpret the law!  Stay tuned as IBAT's government relations team works on this thorny issue.

Have you asked yourself  “what is a bond” or “what is the difference between an agency bond and a mortgage backed security?”  If so, then make plans to attend the IBAT Investment Basics Summit on February 23 in San Antonio.  This one-day seminar will go over bond basics, types of bonds and basic analysis and portfolio management.

In February, IBAT will hold Texas Deposit Documentation seminars in Lubbock, Corpus Christi, Irving, San Antonio, Tyler and Houston.  Bank personnel who have responsibility for administering customer accounts should make plans to attend.  This is a fast paced introduction for the new employee who needs an overview of deposit accounts and is designed to “tie everything together” for experienced personnel.  For registration information, click here.
