Congressional Letter Blasts Wal-Mart Application
In the latest salvo in the Wal-Mart quest to get into the banking business, 45 members of Congress have sent a letter to the FDIC reflecting their strong opposition to this application. This bipartisan letter reinforces prior communications from some 50 members, all of whom expressed concerns with the entry of Wal-Mart into the banking business. Special thanks to Texas Congressman Ruben Hinojosa, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, for his willingness to join his colleagues on this important issue for community banking. |
