Campaign Season Upon Us - Again
Labor Day is the traditional start of the campaign season, and while we have had snippets of activity over the past few months, you will no doubt notice the signs going up, radio and television ads and an increased level of rhetoric from all directions. Your IBAT government relations staff has been most active in assisting our friends running for various offices, and have been putting your PAC contributions to good use. We encourage you to be involved in races important to you at both the statewide and local levels. IBAT has been effective in the legislative process in large part due to the involvement of community bankers across the state. Your time - and your money! - are most appreciated and valuable in this process. Please feel free to contact Steve Scurlock or Mae Beth Palone if you have any questions regarding particular races or candidates.
Vidal Gonzalez Appointed to Finance Commission
Congratulations to Vidal Gonzalez, Senior Vice President of Jourdanton State Bank. Vidal has been appointed by Governor Perry to the "banker" seat on the 9 member Finance Commission of Texas. At press time, the official release was not available, but we will provide that link at a later date. We look forward to working with Vidal in his new and vitally important capacity.
