By the time you read this, early voting will likely be over. The big day is Tuesday, November 7. Please make sure that you take the time to vote, and encourage those in your sphere of influence to do the same. As a reminder, you can see a listing of those candidates supported by the IBAT PAC and the IBAT FedPAC.
Additionally, don't forget the link to the judicial recommendations, from our friends at the Texas Civil Justice League.
As is customary, we will provide a complete recap of the election results once the dust settles.
Thank you all for your involvement in this critical process.
State Legislative Priorities
As previously reported, the IBAT Board of Directors has approved the legislative priorities set out by the Legislative Committee last summer. While a summary was provided, additional information is now available on our website which provides further details on our program of work for the upcoming session. Please take a moment to review this information. Your familiarity with these issues, and conveyance of same to your local elected officials, is of paramount importance as we go into the next legislative session.
IBAT has clearly "led the charge" on issues of importance to community banking over the years, and will continue to do so in the Eightieth Texas Legislature. Community banking enjoys an excellent reputation in Austin and in Washington, due in no small part to your involvement in so many areas - including the political arena. It is indeed an pleasure to have the opportunity to represent such an honorable and respected segment of the financial services industry.
Please let us know if you have any comments or questions on our legislative agenda. We will no doubt be calling upon you as the session progresses! |

Financial Literacy Summit
If you've been curious about what your bank can do in 2007 to be a proactive financial literacy resource in your area...make plans to attend the Financial Literacy Summit at the Houston Federal Reserve Bank.
Winter Summit VII
January 28-30, 2007 - South Lake Tahoe, NV
At the recent IBAT Annual Convention, a number of you asked about the registration information for the upcoming IBAT Winter Summit VII. While we are in process of sending brochures to the member banks, those of you who can't wait will be able to download the information here. This very popular program is a classic example of the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" rule. We will again be joined by the senior regulatory officials from all of the banking regulatory agencies, hear from two of Texas' most respected banking attorneys, have ample opportunities to network and "play", and do all of this in one of the most beautiful places in the country - Lake Tahoe. We look forward to seeing many old and new friends in January. |
