Congratulations to the 2007 Making a Difference Award Honorees!
Community bankers from Farmersville, Dumas, Byers and Longview have been selected for the 2007 “Making a Difference” Awards presented by the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT).
Honorees, selected by an independent panel of judges, will be recognized in ceremonies during the IBAT Education Foundation Gala in October.
“We created this award to recognize those independent bankers throughout the state who continually “Make a Difference” in their communities and their banks.”  IBAT President/CEO Christopher Williston said in announcing the winners.  “We know that community bankers routinely go that extra mile each day.  This will give us an opportunity to thank them publicly.”

On Tuesday, the Fed will meet to discuss monetary policy and the fate of overnight borrowing rates, where economists are expecting rates to remain at 5.25%.  Fed fund futures indicate a 92% chance the Fed will cut rates by 25bps by its December 11 meeting.  Other economic indicators to watch for are consumer credit, which is expected to fall as car purchases slow; wholesale inventories should slow from 0.5% to 0.4%; and watch for any deviation in YoY chain store sales, which will give us insight as to how much the sub-prime debacle is affecting U.S. consumers, which account for 70% of GDP.  Read more in this week's Baker Weekly.
