The subprime debacle continued to weigh on markets as major U.S. banks write-down billions of dollars in losses for the fourth quarter.  Merrill Lynch, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and Wachovia, to name a few, are among a growing list of investment banks that are taking big hits to the bottom line as late mortgage payments and mounting foreclosures wreak havoc.  The Dow Jones Industrial Average is off 3.6%, or 480 points, as these write-offs spark concerns of an economic slowdown.  Read more in this week's Baker Weekly.
