IBAT Weighs in on Credit Union Power Grab
The U.S. House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing on the credit unions' initiative to broaden their lending authority, lower their capital requirements and further restrict those credit unions wishing to convert to mutual thrifts on March 6. IBAT sent this letter to our Texas members on this committee to reiterate and reinforce our fervent opposition to this bill.
If you are a constituent of, or have a relationship with one of these members (Hinojosa, Al Green, Paul, Hensarling, Neugebauer, Marchant), it would be beneficial to let them know of your concerns regarding further expansion of the credit union charter. Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202.224.3121 and ask for the appropriate Congressional office.
The credit unions are reportedly bringing several thousand of their members to the Hill for the hearing, and will be fiercely lobbying for these anti-competitive provisions. We are indeed in for a fight. We will keep you updated as this saga progresses. |

|
|
Question: We have a customer who is in basic training for a branch of the military. He believes that we cannot charge him insufficient funds fees while he is in basic training. Is this so? I have read several things on interest rates and different things like that, but I do not see anything on service charges.
To find out the answer, click on the flashing question mark. And you can also check out our searchable database of other frequently asked questions. |
