DC Visit

We would like to thank those of you who have registered for IBAT’s 16th Annual Congressional Visit.  We still could use a few more warm bodies to represent our industry when we travel to Washington, DC, April 29-May 1, to tell the community banking story to our Texas congressional delegation.
There are still a few rooms available in our hotel block at the Melrose Hotel for Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30 and the deadline for registration has just been extended to this Thursday, March 20th.  Rooms are limited, so please register today!
You’ll be teamed up with IBAT staff and other community bankers as you make your way around Capitol Hill.  YOU can make a difference!
To learn more or to register, click HERE.
IBAT would like to thank Mim Neiman of Community Commercial Services in Clinton, South Carolina and Kathy Smith of Bank Compensation Consulting, Inc. in Plano for making scholarships available to members of the Leadership Division and others to help with travel expenses.  Thank you for your support in this important effort!

LEADERSHIP DIVISION BOARD NOMINATIONS

The IBAT Leadership Division is accepting nominations or the 2008-2009 Board of Directors.  The Division is looking for energetic and motivated leaders.  If you are interested in being an integral part of raising money for the IBAT PAC as well as creating a strategy and implementing plans that will impact the future of the Leadership Division and community banking, we invite you to submit your nomination to the board.
Current Leadership Division members should have received a nomination packet in the mail.  All nominations must be accompanied by a letter of support from your bank or company president.

Deadline for nominations is March 25.

IBAT SPONSORS FIRST LADY'S TOUR

Main Street

For the 14th consecutive year, IBAT sponsored the Texas Historical Commission’s First Lady’s Main Street Tour which recognizes the efforts of select Texas cities to revitalize the downtown area.  Chris Williston, Steve Scurlock and Mae Beth Palone accompanied First Lady Anita Perry and members and staff of the Texas Historical Commission to Laredo and Royse City - named Texas’ Main Street Cities for 2008.
IBAT congratulates Falcon International Bank, Texas Community Bank and the First National Bank of Edinburg for their efforts to provide low-cost loans for the revitalization of downtown Laredo.  We also congratulate Texas Leadership Bank and the American National Bank of Texas for providing low-cost loan opportunities for revitalization efforts in Royce City.

BE A HERO TO A LOCAL TEACHER

Teaching Excellence

Watch your mail for information on how you can be a hero for one of your local teachers by nominating them for the First Annual IBAT Teaching Excellence in Financial Literacy Award.
IBAT wants to recognize and celebrate outstanding teachers who have tackled financial education in the classroom.  Not only will they receive an award, they also will receive a cash prize of $1,000!
Three teachers from across Texas will be selected for this award by a panel of judges based on their responses to seven questions relating to financial literacy and your letter of support.  The winners will be recognized during the IBAT Education Foundation Gala, but the real celebration will be local, at a school assembly, with you presenting the award and $1,000 check to the deserving teacher before their students and peers.
Deadline for nominations is June 1, 2008.  For questions, call Mae Beth at 1.800.749.4228.

Question:   On the loan types allowed, what is the maximum amount we can charge for a returned check fee?  Does this same amount correspond to the NSF Paid/Returned Fees on checking accounts?  I find nothing that limits us on the amount of this fee - only competition.
