October 3, 2006 - Plains Capital Bank President David Seim was presented with the coveted Chairman’s Award, the highest recognition given annually by the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT).
The Lubbock executive was honored during the closing session of the 32nd annual convention of IBAT, the largest state community banking association in the nation.
The Chairman’s Award is presented annually to a banker or friend of Texas community banking. The selection is at the sole discretion of the IBAT chairman.
Seim was recognized for his overall service to the banking industry, his community and IBAT itself.
His community service has included chairing United Way, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, Southwest Lubbock Rotary Club, South Plains Council of Boy Scouts of America and the Texas Tech University Foundation. He also served as president of Lubbock Country Club and on the boards of Covenant Health System and National Kidney Foundation.
He chaired IBAT in 1993-1994, Texas Independent Bank in 1995 and the Texas Tech School of Community Bank Management. Seim also served on the Board of Directors of the Independent Community Bankers of America, IBAT Education Foundation, Southwest Graduate School of Banking and PULSE EFT Association.
Seim has been an instructor at the Texas Tech School of Banking and the Southwest Graduate School of Banking, is a major contributor to the IBAT legislative fund and has logged more than 2,000 hours of volunteer time in various capacities on IBAT committees, councils and boards.
