Stephenville community leader Darrell Brown has been recognized with the highest honor from the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT). The Senior Vice President of Town and Country Bank was presented the Chairman’s Award as a highlight of the 33rd IBAT convention in Fort Worth Oct. 2.
The Award is given to a Texas banker or bank service provider that has gone “above and beyond’ in service to his industry and community. The selection is made at the discretion of the IBAT Chairman in consultation with the IBAT staff.
Chairman Al Jones said he selected Brown for his work within the Stephenville community, including his civic and church activities, and for his total commitment to the organization.
“For IBAT, Darrell immersed himself in learning banking, attending convention and leadership conferences, giving almost 2,000 hours of his precious time to serve the organization on committees, councils and boards,” Jones said. “He served on the Leadership Division Board of Directors, leading in all roles up to serving as president.
“For his community, Darrell has served on the Stephenville City Council, the Senior Citizens Center Advisory Board, Comanche Trail Council of Boy Scouts of America, and the boards of Rotary and the NAACP.”
Brown’s civic activities also include the Chamber of Commerce, Erath County United Way Board, Harris Methodist Hospital Advisory Board and Park Advisory Board.
He and his family are members of First Baptist Church where he serves in the choir, board of deacons and is director of his Sunday School class.
He has both Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Tarleton State University and has served as Senior Vice President of Town and Country Bank for the past 12 years.
Darrell and wife Angie have two children—Preston and Sydney.
