Making a Difference for Community Banking

About the Foundation

As the philanthropic arm of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas, the IBAT Education Foundation funds initiatives with the power to help community bankers actively create a more secure financial future for all Texans. Our focus is directed toward financial literacy programs for consumers and bankers.

Texas community bankers are seeking ways to be proactive in counteracting a threat to the public's financial health - mounting consumer and commercial debt, understanding how banks operate, and taking responsibility for choices and financial decisions.

The Foundation is guided by its own Board made up of IBAT members. As we grow, the Board will grow and always exemplify the partnering between community bankers and the communities they serve by including civic leaders, philanthropists, spouses, business leaders and others.

Ways to Give

IBAT Education Foundation accepts gifts in many forms to ensure your generosity will improve the financial health of millions of Texans through ongoing programs, new initiatives, and special funds that you designate. As a 501c(3) organization with tax-exempt status, contributions to the Foundation are charitable donations and tax-deductible as allowed under federal law.

IBAT Education Foundation is seeking gifts of all sizes to meet its three-year goal of 1 Million. Many donors choose to make a major gift commitment to be paid over a period of three to five years. Special recognition is given to donors who make a major gift.

Types of Gifts

You can give to the Foundation by making the following types of gifts:

Cash - cash is the gift of choice for most donors, either as an annual gift or pledged over a period of several years.
Memorial and Tribute Gifts
Life Insurance - term and whole life insurance policies
Bequests, Trusts or Other Deferred Methods

Where Does My Money Go?

100% of the monies collected by the IBAT Education Foundation will be used to fund the purposes outlined above. The Board of Trustees will determine the percentage of total contributions to be set aside as an income-producing asset (endowment) of the Foundation.

Recognition & Awards

All donors are acknowledged for their gifts. Major donors will be listed by level of giving on the "Heroes and Legends Wall" in the IBAT Headquarters. For all major donors, as their level of giving increases, we will move their plaques to the appropriate level. In addition, a virtual donor wall will soon be available for viewing on the IBAT Web Site. More.

Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC)

IBAT is partnering with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) to help homeowners access unbiased information about electric choice. If you would like to provide this information on your bank’s website, you can direct your customers to the Texas Electric Choice website at www.powertochoose.org or call 1.866.797.4839 for information about Retail Electric Providers in your community. You can also post the electric offer comparison tool on your website that will allow your customers to enter a zip code and shop for electric offers in your area.
