Community Bankers Speak Out

Earlier this week, a group of Texas bankers testified before the House Financial Services Committee’s Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee.  The hearing, entitled, “An Examination of the Challenges Facing Community Financial Institutions in Texas,” included testimony by George Hansard, President of Pecos County State Bank, Cliff McCauley, Executive Vice President of Frost Bank, Les Parker, Chairman, President and CEO of United Bank of El Paso de Norte and Ignacio Urrabazo, Jr. President of Commerce Bank.

In prepared testimony, each of the community bank representatives shed light on the burdensome examination and regulatory environment facing community banks in Texas and throughout the country.

The bankers’ testimony was covered online by’s business news blog about San Antonio and South Texas businesses.
